Colonial Sugar Refining Company founded in Sydney

1872
Yarraville Refinery production started in Melbourne

1884
Chelsea Refinery began production in Auckland

1994
Racecourse Refinery started production in Mackay

1998
CSR, Mackay Refined Sugar and EDF Man form joint venture with Sugar Australia and New Zealand Sugar Company

2010
Sucrogen formed, comprising of CSR Mills, Ethanol and the Sweetener Group (Sugar Australia & New Zealand Sugar Company)

CSR sells Sucrogen to Wilmar. Wilmar Sugar is Australia's leading sugar and renewable energy company.

Sugar Australia's key refining interests are:

  • A sugar refinery at Yarraville in Melbourne, Victoria.
  • A sugar refinery at the Racecourse Mill in Mackay, Queensland.
  • The MV "Pioneer", a BIBO (bulk-in, bulk/bag-out) specialised refined sugar bulk carrier.
  • Depot and/or port facilities in Mackay, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
  • The CSR Sugar brand for marketing retail sugar.
