The Sugar Australia team was delighted to become Foodbank Victoria Christmas Hamper Helpers this year, supporting the funding of the purchase and delivery of hampers for families in need… and we packed them!
Our wonderful team members packed the equivalent of 38,016 meals last week to support Australian families this Christmas.
In 2023, Sugar Australia committed to donate 120 tonnes of 1kg CSR white sugar (valued at approx. $216K) – 25% of Foodbank’s annual requirement of the pantry staple.
Aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, social impact for community good is a key pillar of Sugar Australia’s Sustainability Vision.

Foodbank’s 2023 Hunger Report (https://lnkd.in/gWc2dNak) highlights the severe impact of the cost of living crisis. Over 3.7 million households in Australia experienced food insecurity in the last 12 months; 77% for the first time. A staggering 48% of Australians feel anxious about or find it challenging to access adequate food consistently.
With the support of businesses like Sugar Australia, Foodbank provides food relief to over a million people each month. We look forward to strengthening our partnership over coming years and working on ways to expand our collaboration.
